{"id":1898,"date":"2012-10-19T11:18:09","date_gmt":"2012-10-19T15:18:09","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.theglobalconversation.com\/blog\/?p=1898"},"modified":"2012-10-19T11:20:07","modified_gmt":"2012-10-19T15:20:07","slug":"the-shift-is-about-to-hit-the-fan","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.theglobalconversation.com\/blog\/?p=1898","title":{"rendered":"The shift is about to hit the fan!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: left;\" align=\"center\">Hollywood Director Tom Shadyac, most notably recognized for directing blockbuster comedies like \u201cAce Ventura:\u00a0 Pet Detective\u201d and \u201cBruce Almighty\u201d and \u201cThe Nutty Professor,\u201d detours away from familiar territory in his thought-provoking documentary \u201cI AM,\u201d where he tackles head-on probing questions that a large number of people in our world are asking today:<\/p>\n<p><em>What is wrong with the world?<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>What can we do to make it better?<\/em><\/p>\n<p>After a debilitating bicycle accident in 2007, Shadyac journeyed into a self-exploration of his own life and examined closely the obscure concept of \u201chappiness.\u201d\u00a0 As he sat in the living room of his 17,000-square foot mansion, surrounded by priceless antiques, expensive cars, and a luxurious private jet, he came to the realization that none of these \u201cthings\u201d made him any <em>happier<\/em>.\u00a0 And he proceeded to sell and give away everything he owned, moved into a mobile home, and set out to create a documentary about what is \u201cwrong\u201d with the world.<\/p>\n<p>Shadyac describes the movie \u201cI AM\u201d as the \u201cUltimate Reality Show.\u201d\u00a0 The film highlights interviews with scientists, psychologists, artists, environmentalists, authors, activists, and philosophers in its quest to discover the meaning of all life.\u00a0 \u201cI didn\u2019t want to hear the usual answers, like war, hunger, poverty, the environmental crisis, or even greed,\u201d Shadyac explains.\u00a0 \u201cThese are not the problems, they are the symptoms of a larger endemic problem.\u00a0 In I AM, I wanted to talk about the root cause of the ills of the world, because if there is a common cause, and we can talk about it, air it out in a public forum, then we have a chance to solve it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Interestingly, but not surprisingly, the scientifically supported discoveries emerging out of this nonfiction documentary are in alignment with many of the messages held within the New Spirituality movement:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cHumans actually function better and remain healthier when expressing positive emotions, such as love, care, compassion, and gratitude, versus their negative counterparts, anxiety, frustration, anger and fear.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe heart, not the brain, may be man\u2019s primary organ of intelligence, and that human consciousness and emotions can actually affect the physical world.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHumankind\u2019s real power comes in their ability to perform complex tasks together, to sympathize and cooperate.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI AM isn\u2019t as much about what you can do, as who you can be.\u00a0 And from that transformation of being, action will naturally follow.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>I wholeheartedly recommend this film of awakening, where science and spirituality link arms, out of which gives birth <em>once again<\/em>\u00a0the undeniable realization that:<strong>\u00a0 <\/strong><em><strong>We are all connected<\/strong>.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Visit the I AM website <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a title=\"here\" href=\"http:\/\/www.iamthedoc.com\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">here<\/span><\/a><\/span>.<\/p>\n<p><em>(Lisa McCormack is the Managing Editor &amp; Administrator of The Global Conversation.\u00a0 She is also a member of the Spiritual Helper team at <\/em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.changingchange.net\/\"><em>www.ChangingChange.net<\/em><\/a><em>, a website offering emotional and spiritual support . \u00a0\u00a0To connect with Lisa, please e-mail her at <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a title=\"Lisa@TheGlobalConversation.com\" href=\"mailto:lisa@theglobalconversation.com\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Lisa@TheGlobalConversation.com<\/span><\/a><\/span>.)<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>(If there is a book, movie, music CD, etc. that you would like to recommend to our worldwide audience, please submit it to our Managing Editor, Lisa McCormack, for possible publication in this space.
