{"id":2243,"date":"2012-10-31T10:13:39","date_gmt":"2012-10-31T14:13:39","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.theglobalconversation.com\/blog\/?p=2243"},"modified":"2012-10-31T10:17:46","modified_gmt":"2012-10-31T14:17:46","slug":"who-and-what-is-god","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.theglobalconversation.com\/blog\/?p=2243","title":{"rendered":"Who and what is God?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>Conversations with God <\/em>was given to humanity to bring us answers to Life&#8217;s Great Questions. And the greatest of all our Great Questions has been, and continues to be: &#8220;Who and what is God?&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Most of us clearly understand that God is not a very large and handsome man in the sky, with a long white beard and a flowing robe, sitting on a golden throne in a bejeweled room, surrounded by wing flapping angels.<\/p>\n<p>Yet while we are pretty clear about what God is not, we are not nearly as clear about what God is.<\/p>\n<p>So let&#8217;s see what God has to say on the subject.<\/p>\n<p>In <em>Conversations with God<\/em>, God made it clear that God is without form, gender, or substance in the way that we know it.\u00a0 God is, rather, that of which all things are made.\u00a0 The Essential Essence of which everything in existence is comprised.\u00a0 That essence contains Supreme Intelligence.\u00a0 And Total Awareness.\u00a0 And Absolute Power.<\/p>\n<p>It is omnipresent and omniscient.\u00a0 It is everywhere because it is everything that exists in any place at all.\u00a0 It knows everything because without that which it knows, nothing that exists could come into being.\u00a0 It is the Source and the Substance at once; it is the Creator and Created.<\/p>\n<p>It always was, is now, and always will be.\u00a0 It knows no beginning and no end.\u00a0 There is nothing that exists outside of it and there is nothing that exists inside of it <em>without<\/em> <em>it<\/em>.\u00a0 That is, simply put, there is nothing that is not God.<\/p>\n<p>This Essential Essence uses Itself to recreate Itself, and calls upon Itself to empower Itself, to <em>be<\/em> Itself, <em>all by<\/em> <em>Itself<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>It needs nothing, requires nothing, demands nothing, punishes nothing.\u00a0 For what could It possibly need?\u00a0 What could It in any case require?\u00a0 Why would It demand anything?\u00a0 And who&#8212;pray tell, who in the <em>world<\/em>&#8212;would it command or punish?<\/p>\n<p>That which <em>has<\/em> everything and <em>is <\/em>everything and wants and needs <em>nothing<\/em> holds only one desire: to express and to know Itself through the glorious experiencing <em>of<\/em> Itself&#8230;and to create this possibility.<\/p>\n<p>That is the reason that life as we know it was created.<\/p>\n<p>Every human being who has stepped into the living of this possibility has achieved all the things we as a sentient species say we want to achieve.\u00a0 And they have done so without hurting, without damaging, without killing.\u00a0 We say they have lived the lives of &#8220;saints.&#8221;\u00a0 Yet they have merely lived life as it was intended to be lived \u2011\u2011 a way in which most human beings have adamantly refused to live, for the most ironic reason of all:\u00a0 We think it is too good to be true.<\/p>\n<!-- AddThis Advanced Settings generic via filter on the_content --><!-- AddThis Share Buttons generic via filter on the_content -->","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Conversations with God was given to humanity to bring us answers to Life&#8217;s Great Questions.
