{"id":2402,"date":"2012-11-09T12:48:31","date_gmt":"2012-11-09T17:48:31","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.theglobalconversation.com\/blog\/?p=2402"},"modified":"2012-11-09T13:05:03","modified_gmt":"2012-11-09T18:05:03","slug":"is-agreement-about-god-boring","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.theglobalconversation.com\/blog\/?p=2402","title":{"rendered":"Is agreement about God &#8216;boring&#8217;?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Is there something sad about the following posted comment by a recent visitor here, or is it just me&#8230;?<\/p>\n<p>My last entry in this space had to do with Who and What God Is&#8230;and following what I wrote, this observation was offered by a reader&#8230;<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Comment by Buzz on November 1, 2012 at 11:49 am&#8230;<br \/>\nSubject matter like this is boring because everyone is in complete agreement.<\/span><\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>So what I \u201cget\u201d from this is that unless I write something about which there is \u201cdisagreement,\u201d what I am writing is \u201cboring.\u201d And the irony is that when I write something about which there is \u201cdisagreement\u201d (such as my political stories in recent days), I get lambasted here and on Facebook (many fb followers read articles here and post their reactions there) for not sticking with my \u201cmission\u201d as a \u201cspiritual teacher\u201d and for \u201ctaking sides\u201d on political or social issues.<\/p>\n<p>What this comes down to is, \u201cHeads you lose, tails you lose.\u201d Of course, it is not really, in my mind, a game of \u201cwin or lose,\u201d and I don\u2019t hold it that way. I simply share what I feel within my authentic experience, and the \u201cchips fall\u201d where they may. But I do find it ironic nonetheless that whether I write things with which people are in agreement, or things with which people disagreement, I\u2019m somehow \u201cnot doing it right.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>We&#8217;re an interesting species, are we not&#8230;?<\/p>\n<p>And I personally find it a bit sad that because something I have written falls into the category of things with which people <em>agree<\/em>, it is labeled as \u201cboring.\u201d Which leads me to a question&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><em>Is agreement boring?<\/em><em><\/em><\/p>\n<p>Could this be the reason that human beings sometimes seem to actively seek disagreement and conflict? Yet isn\u2019t \u201creaching agreement\u201d supposedly the goal on important matters. Will it be \u201cboring\u201d if the Congress reaches agreement with President Obama on how to avoid the \u201cfiscal cliff\u201d that is now, with the election finally past us, the \u201ctalk of the town\u201d on all the news shows and talk shows and in all the newspapers and news magazines this week?<\/p>\n<p>I must say, I was just a bit surprised to see agreement about Who and What God Is described by an intelligent person as \u201cboring.\u201d How, if this is the way people think, are we ever to get <em>excited<\/em> about God, about Life, about The New Spirituality, and about a new way of being human? Only if we disagree about it? And how do we share with others that which is called \u201cboring\u201d and make it exciting, inspiring, and igniting?<\/p>\n<p>Is Buzz\u2019 reaction typical of the majority of humanity? What do you think?
