{"id":3405,"date":"2012-12-27T15:55:37","date_gmt":"2012-12-27T20:55:37","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.theglobalconversation.com\/blog\/?p=3405"},"modified":"2012-12-27T15:55:37","modified_gmt":"2012-12-27T20:55:37","slug":"lovingly-release-the-old-powerfully-invite-the-new","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.theglobalconversation.com\/blog\/?p=3405","title":{"rendered":"Lovingly Release the Old, Powerfully Invite the New"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>Instead of answering a question this week, I thought I\u2019d share a very powerful New Year\u2019s ritual you may want to try to properly say goodbye to this significant year, and embrace the year ahead\u00a0with open arms.\u00a0 I often hear the phrases \u201cgood riddens\u201d or \u201cI\u2019m so done with this year\u201d at the end of each year, in people\u2019s attempt to leave behind the old and start fresh.\u00a0 What most people don\u2019t realize, however, is that when you speak in such negative tones, you are actually creating more resistance around what you are trying to let go of and are basically inviting more of it into the next year.\u00a0 So don\u2019t do that!\u00a0 Try the following instead \ud83d\ude42 <\/em><em>: <\/em><\/p>\n<p>On New Year&#8217;s Eve, set aside some alone time (or do this with someone you can easily share stuff like this with) to be with what has occurred in the last year, and tune into what you want to see in the next year.\u00a0 Follow these steps:<\/p>\n<p>1.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <em>Create your space.<\/em>\u00a0 Making this a ritualistic experience adds to the energy of what you are doing, and makes it more meaningful.\u00a0 So light that candle, say a prayer, take deep breaths, burn incense, etc.<\/p>\n<p>2.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <em>Properly say goodbye to 2012<\/em>.\u00a0 Take out a sheet of paper, and begin writing all that you are ready to say goodbye to from the last year and even prior to it, all of those things that you recognize have served their purpose and are no longer needed in your life.\u00a0 I say &#8220;properly&#8221;, because in order to truly release something, it needs to be lovingly released.\u00a0 In other words, rather than saying &#8220;I&#8217;m so done with that&#8221; with an edge of regret or disdain, shift your energy to being grateful for the presence of this thing in your life, and the acceptance that it was there for a reason and there was a gift in it.<\/p>\n<p>3.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <em>Lovingly release<\/em>.\u00a0 In a safe way, burn the piece of paper, or tear it up, bury it whatever works for you, and as you do so give thanks to God, the Universe or whomever it is you appeal to with such things.<\/p>\n<p>4.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <em>Celebrate!<\/em>\u00a0 When you are finished, it is so important to celebrate.\u00a0 Not only does it lock in the experience, but it is an acknowledgment of this loving, important thing you just did for yourself.\u00a0 Celebrating can happen in many different ways;
