This morning God asked me,
\n“When did you stop singing?”<\/em><\/p>\n

At first, I was angered.
\nThen, I let the question Be.<\/p>\n

“Why,” said I,
\n“I believe it was when I began to follow
\nevery thought that was given to me
\nby my parents,
\nand then by my peers,
\nand then by any passing stranger.
\nI believe it was the moment I began to choose
\nachievement over Alchemy
\nand competition over Compassion.
\nIt was that morning I arose,
\nand put my feet into shoes
\ntoo tight for Freedom;
\nwhen I listened, instead of Music,
\nto mankind.”<\/p>\n

“I believe,” said I, “that I stopped singing
\nthe moment I stopped hearing Birdsong
\nor laughed with the sounds of Laughter.”<\/p>\n

“And when did you stop dancing?”<\/em>said God.
\n“Or being enchanted by stories?<\/em>
\nOr stop finding comfort in the sweet territory<\/em>
\nof silence?”<\/em><\/p>\n

“Why,” answered I, “It was, you see, when I forgot that<\/p>\n
