What is the message\u00a0that\u00a0we\u00a0need to\u00a0transmit to future generations of this planet — so that our children and all children to come are\u00a0Self-loving beings with fully functional\u00a0Self-Esteem, and\u00a0capable of creating a joyful and healthy world for themselves?<\/p>\n
Where are we going?\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n The market economy is the modern GODDESS on\u00a0Earth. This is the underlying message of this civilization to future generations of this planet. In the name of\u00a0a\u00a0\u201chealthy economy,\u201d we devastate the planet\u00a0which is the\u00a0home of future generations for millennia to come, and our most precious human qualities like compassion and solidarity, because our economy has to \u201cgrow\u201d today.<\/p>\n Huge debts\u00a0run the global economy and our homes today.\u00a0The global credit stock doubled from $57 trillion to $109 trillion in just\u00a0ten\u00a0years (from 2000 to 2010). It will need to double again to an incredible $210 trillion by 2020 in order to provide the necessary credit-driven growth. It is debt that governs our world.<\/p>\n Our world\u2014where\u00a0one billion people, one-seventh of the\u00a0total\u00a0\u00a0population,\u00a0now lives in total poverty\u2014annually\u00a0spends about $1.5 trillion on military expenditures.\u00a0 As long as the strongest economies of the world enrich their national budgets with exorbitant earnings from its arms exports, there will be wars. And\u00a0as long as\u00a0the so-called \u201ccivilized world\u201d silently watches the planet’s poorest countries import the latest \u201chow-to-kill-your-neighbor\u201d techniques,\u00a0instead to spend money on\u00a0the\u00a0newest technology and know-how to make a living and become\u00a0self-sufficient, there will not be peace and prosperity on Earth.<\/p>\n The golden age of survival. This is the world of our immature ego. After millions of years of evolution, we still stand on the law of the jungle in which there is no value greater and no ideal cherished more than \u201csurvival at any cost.\u201d And the more powerful and richer we are as we survive, the better. But as long as we continue just surviving, instead of really living, we will continue to struggle in fear. And as long as we live in fear, the law of the jungle remains our highest ideal. Debt, poverty, and pain pave the way for future generations\u2014instead of happiness, prosperity, and joy.<\/p>\n As within,\u00a0so without.\u00a0No human being with\u00a0Self-Esteem will cheat, lie, steal,\u00a0kill, abuse other forms of life, or\u00a0otherwise harm another, or be\u00a0indifferent to his\/her environment. The shape of our current personal and global affairs directly reflects the actual state of our individual and collective lack of\u00a0Self-Esteem. If this\u00a0were\u00a0not the case, we would all live in harmony and peace.<\/p>\n The answer to the problems of our civilization lies primarily in our own approach to ourselves. This is where each of us must begin.<\/p>\n When I look at our world today,\u00a0I\u00a0am\u00a0still overwhelmed when there is another bomb exploding in a bus or town square, another escalation of war, another aerial bombardment \u201cin the name of democracy\u201d, another pollution disaster, another political or financial corruption scandal, another child murder, another school killing\u00a0. . .\u00a0and another\u00a0. . .\u00a0another act of destruction happening somewhere on Earth.\u00a0It is as if the shockwaves\u00a0of destruction\u00a0are\u00a0growing faster and faster, hitting us harder and harder.<\/p>\n And yet I cannot help noticing\u00a0that in all the confusion and chaos lies a certain sense of purpose, and with all the economic, political,\u00a0and civil turmoil taking place in various parts of our planet, I detect an increased awareness, a rise of consciousness, a\u00a0cleansing process underway, which will lead us to a new world of peace and tranquility.<\/p>\n It is in these turbulent times\u00a0that\u00a0each of us bears full responsibility for the decisions we make everyday\u2014as we\u00a0choose\u00a0between love and fear,\u00a0Self-Esteem and\u00a0Self-denial, between sheer survival at the expense of all other forms of life on the one side and meaningful and fulfilling life in the interest of all on the other.<\/p>\n Now is the time to ask the fundamental question:\u00a0What do I really believe\u00a0in?\u00a0Now is the right moment to follow the Spark of Light within and use our spiritual powers to help co-create our New World.<\/p>\n \u201cYour cure is in you,<\/em> ~ Sidi Mohammad Al Jamal – Sufi Master<\/p>\n (Vladimir Bayer\u00a0lives in Prague where he work as translator\/consultant\/writer.
