{"id":6552,"date":"2013-09-11T09:20:17","date_gmt":"2013-09-11T13:20:17","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.theglobalconversation.com\/blog\/?p=6552"},"modified":"2013-09-11T09:32:42","modified_gmt":"2013-09-11T13:32:42","slug":"remember-911","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.theglobalconversation.com\/blog\/?p=6552","title":{"rendered":"Remembering 9\/11"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I find myself engulfed in footage of the day that shook our country to its core; 9\/11\/01.\u00a0 Every year at this time, I watch the videos, listen to the phone calls, and remember where I was on that grim day.\u00a0 For many of us, we can close our eyes and bring ourselves right back to that horrific morning.<\/p>\n<p>Usually, feelings of sadness and empathy would rise to the surface and display themselves in tears rolling down my cheeks. \u00a0The images always seemed dark, full of death and despair, and mainly\u2026 evil.\u00a0\u00a0This year,\u00a0as I watch that day play out again on my television, I see and feel something totally different.\u00a0 What is it?<\/p>\n<p>Truth is\u2026 I watch and I see God (Why hadn\u2019t I seen Him in there before?)\u00a0 I watch and I feel\u00a0love.<\/p>\n<p>Here\u2019s\u00a0the thing,\u00a0\u00a0we were all affected on \u2018that\u2019 day, but how we reacted was simply amazing.\u00a0 Society came together \u00a0in the name of love.\u00a0 We became a city, a country, filled with strangers rushing to help strangers.\u00a0 A massive web of support.\u00a0 The word \u2018Family\u2019 took on a whole new meaning.\u00a0 As we hugged our own spouses\/children\/parents as tight as possible,\u00a0we also opened our arms to our neighbors.\u00a0 Kisses, tears, appreciation and gratitude poured out of\u00a0our hearts, sometimes uncontrollably.<\/p>\n<p>We ran to find ways to help our neighbors.\u00a0 We jumped in line to donate blood.\u00a0 We adorned our homes, our cars, our offices with ribbons.\u00a0 Everywhere you looked, you saw the American Flag waving high and strong.<\/p>\n<p>Our lives stopped.<\/p>\n<p>We became quiet.<\/p>\n<p>Strangers became friends.<\/p>\n<p>Cities became communities.<\/p>\n<p>God appeared in\u00a0our actions.<\/p>\n<p>9\/11, although tragic, ignited a fire of love in each and every one of our souls.\u00a0\u00a0A love, unfortunately,\u00a0too soon forgotten.\u00a0 So,\u00a0as I sit remembering, I choose not to cry but rather bow my head in prayer.\u00a0 I ask you to join me.<\/p>\n<p>I pray that one day our country, our world, will\u00a0come together in the name of love.\u00a0 I pray that we will once again be able to look at strangers as the precious lives they are.\u00a0 I pray that, without hesitation, we will rush to aid our neighbors in their time of need and that they will rush to us in ours.<\/p>\n<p>I pray it won\u2019t take another crisis to make it happen.<\/p>\n<p>I pray for love.<\/p>\n<p>And most importantly\u2026<\/p>\n<p>I pray for you.<\/p>\n<p><em><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft  wp-image-4970\" alt=\"Jaimie Schultz\" src=\"http:\/\/www.theglobalconversation.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/Jaimie-Schultz-150x150.jpg\" width=\"120\" height=\"120\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.theglobalconversation.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/Jaimie-Schultz-150x150.jpg 150w, https:\/\/www.theglobalconversation.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/Jaimie-Schultz-110x110.jpg 110w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 120px) 100vw, 120px\" \/>(Jaimie Schultz , a\/k\/a Pajamas, is<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>a fun-loving, passionate, adventure seeker who loves life and loves helping others see how much they should love theirs.
